Nightmare On Our Street

Journal Entry

This has been the most bizarre 7 weeks I think we've experienced. I'll jump to the past few days. Carly went in for her third surgery in 7 weeks on Monday. The day before, as I was coaching Zak's soccer team at a game in Piqua Hurricane Ike went through. Now, those of you visiting my blog from afar, or who haven't read it before, might wonder what part of Florida or Texas I live in. It's Ohio. We had hurricane (Category 1) winds of 78 MPH in the area. Now to be called a hurricane officially they have to be sustained winds. This was a hurricane, trust me! The high winds and gusts that broke trees in half, tore down buildings and blew trucks off the road, lasted for at least 5 hours. As I sit here under gorgeous skies, about 70 degrees and no humidity I am doing so at our Church. You see, like 2 million others in the Buckeye State, Ike knocked out our power. Much of the power has been restored. But our power in our home, where our daughter will need her G-Tube plugged in when she is released today, has been out for three days now and they say it could be as long as four more days before we get it back. I'll update as we proceed and also post more of the background as well.....but suffice it to say, this has been, AND IS, no fun!

An Update on Carly

Journal

If you are new to this blog you may not know about our 11 year old, Carly. She had major surgery 5 weeks ago to repair her hip and control her tone in her legs. Carly has CP and Epilepsy. She has never eaten quite like she should (intake of nutrition) but since the surgery she has really slowed down on intake. We decided Friday that we really needed to have her readmitted and a workup done. That's where we are right now. Please keep us in your prayers as Kathy and I both continue working, plus trading off on hospital stays and Zak helps where he can. This hospital stay shouldn't be as draining as the previous stay.....we hope.

Where are all the whiners now?

Journal

All those rock throwers who criticized President Bush and FEMA post-Katrina are silent now. They were quick to scream and yell about how Bush and Brown didn't react fast enough with relief efforts (when in fact the real problem was with New Orleans Mayor Nagin and Louisiana Governor Blanco), Bush and FEMA did an outstadnign job this time.....but where's the praise? It simply solidifies charges that some Liberals will use any and all opportunities to discredit this Administration but will always look the other way when it comes to the accomplishments......fair and balanced.....NOT

Don't believe all you read....or in this case ANYTHING!

Journal

Kathy and I at John McCain's Palin announcement in Dayton at the Nutter Center Friday, August 29, 2008 a historic date and a proud moment for the party, and the country. The sign was prepared by staff and we just happened to sit there.

Palin serves a knockout punch at Republican Convention

Journal

Senator John McCain, the Republican Party nominee (officially as of tonight) made one heck of a choice in choosing Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. Kathy and I were about 50 feet away from the stage in her "coming out" last week right here in Dayton. While I think we both had questions initially, as soon as she opened her mouth, we both knew this was history. She attacked Obama last night(in a respectful and honest way) leaving little room from rebuttal. Her smile will knock you over and her tenacity will sweep you off your feet. Palin is the future of the party, and the country.

Today on Expressions II with Mike Scinto:

Last night Senator Joe Biden, in his acceptance speech, said his mother’s creed is the American creed; No one is better than you, everyone is your equal, and everyone is equal to you. Mike Scinto says “That couldn’t be more wrong, unfair and un-American.” Scinto adds “It’s perfect liberal thinking but that’s what’s wrong with America now; people all think they’re equal.”

Scinto says he absolutely believes that all men are created equal. He adds “It’s what you do with your gifts, Blessings and talents that says there are people who are better than you and people who are worse than you.” Scinto says he sure hopes he’s not equal to some bum or deadbeat who’s chosen to throw his or her life away.

What’s your take? Scinto’s here. Don’t miss a minute of it Thursday (today) at Noon exclusively on

1210 AM WDAO.
