Today on Expressions II with Mike Scinto:

Last night Senator Joe Biden, in his acceptance speech, said his mother’s creed is the American creed; No one is better than you, everyone is your equal, and everyone is equal to you. Mike Scinto says “That couldn’t be more wrong, unfair and un-American.” Scinto adds “It’s perfect liberal thinking but that’s what’s wrong with America now; people all think they’re equal.”

Scinto says he absolutely believes that all men are created equal. He adds “It’s what you do with your gifts, Blessings and talents that says there are people who are better than you and people who are worse than you.” Scinto says he sure hopes he’s not equal to some bum or deadbeat who’s chosen to throw his or her life away.

What’s your take? Scinto’s here. Don’t miss a minute of it Thursday (today) at Noon exclusively on

1210 AM WDAO.

Thanks Barry!

If you heard a “WHOOSH” last Saturday, it wasn’t a tornado or wind storm blowing through The Valley. It was the sound of those of us who are McCain supports breathing a collective sigh of relief at Barack Obama’s choice for VP. He contradicts much of what Barry claims to stand for. And he compliments the other weak points of the Dem platform.

Delaware Senator Joe Biden knows something about Presidential campaigning. He ought to, he’s tried enough and been turned down resoundingly by voters.

Obama wants CHANGE in Washington. So let’s grab a guy who’s been there in the same position since Richard Nixon won his second term in the White House. Now there’s a fresh face on the scene. Talk about “business as usual”! You can’t build your entire campaign platform on a single word, change, then choose a political dinosaur as your running mate.

Another contradiction; you have a man heading the ticket who not only doesn’t support our war on terror, but has opposed the Iraq War from day one to the point he voted against funding our troops already in place in Afghanistan and Iraq. Biden, to his credit, knew the funding had to go through and gave a thumbs-up.

Then there are those wonderful Biden quotes about his team leader: "I think he can be ready, but right now I don't believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training” from the August 2007 Primary debate. Did Barack gain that wealth of experience during the following year of campaigning or was Biden simply spewing rhetoric? Which Joe Biden do we believe?

And Obama has claimed to want to keep his race out of this campaign. But he chooses, as his running mate, a man who says "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man." Biden later apologized for his comments but, again, which Senator Joe do we believe?

Obama is of the new “tech” generation. He announced his choice of Biden (after a couple of major leaks) via text message at 3:00 AM on supporters’ cell phones. He is “sound-bite savvy”. On the other hand you have Biden who makes his answers to simple questions a dissertation. That’s not something that goes well with the media, or the public. It comes across sounding like political mumbo-jumbo.

Yes, a big “Thank you” goes out to Barack Obama for choosing the candidate who is least likely to land him on Pennsylvania Avenue. Now if my guy can just do what I told him in a recent column and keep a low profile he’ll do fine. Let the opponents be their own worst enemy while McCain and Romney (oops, did I let the cat out of that bag) just sit back and watch their poll numbers grow.

The Edwards Family Slammed by Conservatives

by

Mike Scinto

August 20, 2008

I’m really getting tired of having to apologize for my conservative colleagues in the media, and for conservatives in general. The latest rounds of attacks have been aimed at Senator John Edwards. His admitted tryst with a female other than his wife, and the dispute over who the father of her child might be, is truly an embarrassment.

I don’t support anything about John Edwards’ politics. I make no apologies for Edwards’ behavior. I don’t know (or care) if he is truly remorseful for the fling or if he simply got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. That’s not for me to judge and that’s my whole point. The behavior is disgusting and inexcusable, but last time I checked nobody had appointed me judge, jury or executioner.

It is the topic on the late night talk shows, news magazines, newspapers, tabloid TV shows and the rags on the checkout aisles at every grocery store in America. I’ll bet that makes Elizabeth Edwards feel great considering what the poor lady is already having to face. And I can only imagine the taunting the children are getting.

The responsibility is on John Edwards to be a man and step up and deal with it, both with his wife and with God. But he doesn’t owe the media, America or any of us anything.

John Edwards is not a candidate for President any longer. He isn’t apparently on the short list for VP either; and this pretty well sealed that. So what’s the need to air this tragic event in public? Have we no decency left in the world of politics, or the world at all for that matter? Don’t we care that a woman who is fighting for her life has to endure this over and over again?

I’ve been told that “he should have thought of that before his little fling”. And I can’t argue that point. But must we compound her agony by continuing to flog him publicly?

Once again, I find myself defending a Democrat from Republicans. Or maybe I’m just defending a family from the needless attacks from some in society. I’d be willing to bet a whole bundle that some of those attackers are wearing bracelets that say WWJD. I’d love to ask them what they REALLY think Jesus would do.
